Azerbaijan, Serbia set to sign agreement for increased gas supplies

Azerbaijan and Serbia will soon sign an agreement for additional supplies of Azerbaijani gas, according to Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic, head of the Serbian Ministry of Mining and Energy.Serbian Ministry of Mining and Energy stated that she made this announcement during a meeting with Srbijagas President Dusan Bajatovic, AzVision.az reports. 
Djedovic Handanovic discussed the expansion of the Banatski Dvor underground gas storage facility (UGS) and preparations for the upcoming heating season with Bajatovic. She expressed satisfaction with the gas storage levels in both Serbia and Hungary, adding, “We have also agreed on additional volumes from Azerbaijan, which we will receive in accordance with the needs, and we will formalize the agreement in the near future.”
She provided further details, stating, “In November we will have 750 million cubic meters of gas in the Banatski Dvor UGS and 163 million cubic meters of gas in the gas storage in Hungary.”
Earlier, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov had announced on September 2 in Baku, following talks with Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Djuric, that Azerbaijan plans to gradually increase its gas supplies to Serbia to 1 billion cubic meters per year. 
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan and Serbian Srbijagas signed a contract on November 15, 2023, for the supply of Azerbaijani gas to Serbia. This contract provides for up to 400 million cubic meters of gas per year from Azerbaijan to Serbia for the period 2024-2026, with the possibility of increasing the volume of supplies from 2027.
