Germany to tap into oil well of Kazakhstan to boost its supplies

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 1. Germany made a
request to increase oil supplies from Kazakhstan to 2.5 million
tons, Kazakhstan's Energy Minister Almasadam Satqaliev told media
representatives, Trend reports.
He noted that to increase the supplies, it would be necessary to
secure agreement from the Russian side regarding the transit of
this volume, as well as to ensure the readiness of oil and gas
companies, including independent producers, to supply in this
direction. They had only just begun these consultations.
According to him, the country aimed to export 1.2 million tons
of oil to Germany by the end of the year.
The minister highlighted that Kazakhstan had initiated
discussions with Russia on options for boosting oil supplies to
Germany.

Currently, Kazakh oil is transported to Germany via the Druzhba
pipeline, which crosses Russian territory.
In addition, Satqaliev reported that during the first eight
months of 2024, the transit of Russian gas through Kazakhstan
reached 3.47 billion cubic meters, compared to 1.28 billion cubic
meters for the entire year of 2023.
