The Azerbaijani Parliament has adopted in the third reading the rules for releasing foreigners and stateless persons who were forcibly placed in detention centers for illegal migrants, according to the draft law on amendments to the Migration Code, which was submitted for discussion at todaychr("39")s plenary session of the parliament, Olaylar informs.
According to the draft law, the period of stay for foreigners and stateless persons in the center will be calculated from the moment of their admission in accordance with the decision on their placement in the facility. The issue of extending the detention period or releasing such persons must be resolved before the expiration of the period specified in this decision.
The centerchr("39")s head must notify the relevant executive authority verbally or in writing 1 working day before the expiration of a personchr("39")s placement period in the center. Except for cases of extension of detention based on a court decision, the decision to extend the detention period or release foreigners and stateless persons will be made by the relevant executive authority. Furthermore, the decision to extend the stay or release persons held in the center must be executed immediately upon its receipt by the center.
According to another proposed amendment, if no application for the release of the body is submitted within seven days of the death of a person held in the center, the foreigner will be buried at state expense. The draft law on amendments to the Migration Code was put to vote and adopted in the third reading.
