Mass event with 5,000 balloons prohibited in Jizzakh Park
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of Uzbekistan has prevented an event scheduled for 30 June in Jizzakh.
The event, planned to be held in Navruz Park, included the release of 5,000 balloons, the distribution of free ice cream, and 1,000 gifts.
The Ministry of Ecology, together with the National Guard, halted the event and condemned activities involving the release of plastic toys and balloons, which contribute to environmental pollution.
The Ministry also announced the development of proposals to introduce mandatory waste disposal requirements for organizers of such events, increase customs duties on balloon imports tenfold, and raise their cost one hundredfold.
