A person who smuggled a large amount of drugs to Baku city to sell them on the holiday eve was detained, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan told APA.
As a result of a special operation-search measure implemented by the officers of the General Anti-Narcotics Department in Binagadi district, Baku city, Imamverdi Isgandarov, a resident of Baku, born in 1993, was detained. 24 kilograms, including 13 kilograms of dried marijuana enriched with psychotropic substances, 7 kilograms of heroin, and 4 kilograms of psychotropic substance methamphetamine were found on him and in his car. He said that he obtained the drugs from a hidden place in the Astara district at the order of an Iranian citizen he knew, delivering them to individuals in Baku on the eve of the holiday, with the aim of earning money.
A criminal case related to the fact has been initiated and a pre-trial detention measure has been chosen for the detained person. Operative-investigative measures are being continued.
