Bishkek authorities seek prohibition of driving cars with certain numbers on certain days

AKIPRESS.COM - Bishkek Mayor's Office suggests prohibition of driving cars with certain plate numbers on certain days. The respective draft law was published for public discussion.
The following restrictions based on last digits in the car plates are proposed in a move to address traffic jam problem:
1 and 2 — won't drive on Mondays
3 and 4 — on Tuesdays
5 and 6 — on Wednesdays
7 and 8 — on Thursdays
9 and 0 — on Fridays
Restrictions will remain in effect on working days from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, with exception of Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
Failure to comply with prohibition will be fined in the amount of 1000 soms for physical persons and 50,000 soms for legal entities.
"Adoption of the given measures will unload roads in cities of republican significance by 20% daily," the mayor's office said.
The restrictions will not apply to special and public transport.
As of June 1, some 416,837 cars were registered in Bishkek. Including the incoming cars into the capital, the number of cars exceeds 600,000 with the capacity of roads of around 350,000 cars.
