Vedant Patel, Principal Deputy Spokesperson of the US Department of State, refrained from talking about some sort of breakthrough in the Armenian-Azerbaijani issue at Monday’s Department press briefing.
Patel just added that both US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and US Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations Louis Bono “continue to be deeply engaged on” the matter, but he does not have “any specific updates” or “a timeline to offer” in this regard.
Also, Patel did not comment on Tuesday’s upcoming meeting between Turkish and Armenian diplomats as part of the efforts to reconcile.
"(…) this is something that the Secretary [of State] has been focused on, and we’ll continue to be deeply engaged on it," Patel emphasized.
