The opera "Nasimi" will premiere at Heydar Aliyev Palace on November 20, Azernews reports. The opera is staged by the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater with the support of the Azerbaijan Culture Ministry.
"This opera, reflecting the deep philosophy, free spirit, and humanitarian values of the outstanding Azerbaijani poet and thinker of the 14th-15th centuries, Imadeddin Nasimi, will provide audiences with the opportunity to immerse themselves in his spiritual world. The work is intended to convey Nasimi's legacy to future generations and the whole world. Undoubtedly, the opera 'Nasimi' will occupy a significant place as one of the bright events in the history of Azerbaijani national opera art," the statement says.
The music for the opera was composed by People's Artist and Professor Siyavush Karimi, while the libretto was written by Academician Rafael Huseynov. The role of Nasimi will be performed by Honored Artist Ramil Gasimov. The musical director and conductor is Honored Artist Ayyub Guliyev, the stage director is Honored Artist Inara Babaeva, the choreographer is Honored Artist Yuri Lobachev, the choirmaster is Honored Artist Sevil Gadzhieva, the set designer is Honored Artist Ramil Gasymov, and the lighting designer is Rafael Gasanov.
The performance will feature the Symphony Orchestra and Choir of the Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, as well as the ballet troupe, and will include the Natiq Rhythm group led by People's Artist Natiq Shirinzade, People's Artist Elchin Gashimov (tar), Honored Artist Elnur Ahmedov (kamancha), and Amrah Orujov (oud).
The opera will also include performances by People's Artists Teyyub Aslanov (Fazlullah Naimi), Nureddin Mekhtikhanly (Chronicler), Honored Artists Ilkin Akhmedov (Abdulqadir Maragha), Anton Fershtand (Vezir Amir Temur), Jahangir Gurbanov (Melikshuar), and soloists Fatima Jafarzade (Syana), Kamila Nabiyeva (Fatima), Syama Gamzaeva (Mother of Nasimi), Mahir Tagizade (Amir Temur), Taleh Yahyaev (Zahid), Fakhrin Akhmedli (Lawyer of Amir Temur), Hayal Guseynov (Dervish), Ruslan Persan (First Guard), Reza Khosrovzade (Second Guard), Fuad Azizade (Jailer), Elmir Rustamov (Ghazi), and others.
