ThebriefingwasattendedbyChairofCOP29AzerbaijanOperatingCompanyandCOP29ChiefOperatingOfficerNarminJarchalovaandDeputyChiefoftheProtocolServiceofthePresidentoftheRepublicofAzerbaijanRaminTaghiyev.TheguestattendeeswereMr.WasimMir,DirectorofConferenceAffairsatUNFCCC,andChiefKevinO’Hanlon,theUNDepartmentofSafetyandSecurity,bothofwhomwereinBakuforanofficialvisit.Theinteractivebriefing,heldinahybridformat,wasjoinedbyover150diplomatsincludingheadsofdiplomaticmissionsoperatinginAzerbaijan,aswellasmembersofthediplomaticcorpsaccreditedinAzerbaijanandabroad.Inacomprehensivepresentation,NarminJarchalova,ChairofCOP29AzerbaijanOperatingCompanyandCOP29ChiefOperatingOfficer,offeredathoroughoverviewofthekeyeventslistedintheCOP29calendar.Sheoutlinedthevariousintensivepreparationsunderway,aswellasthezoningofdifferentareasandinfrastructuredevelopmentatBakuStadium,wheretheconferencewillbeheld.Mrs.JarchalovaalsogaveupdatesontheprogressofestablishingtheBlueZone,whichwillhostallofficialeventsduringCOP29,andtheGreenZone,designedtobringtogethervariousstakeholderslookingforinnovativeclimatesolutions.Itwasnotedthatallpreparationsareproceedingonschedule.
DiplomatsattendingthebriefingwereinformedthatseveralorganizationalmeasureshavebeenputinplacetoensuresmoothandefficientparticipationatCOP29.ThesemeasuresincludetheregistrationprocessmanagedbytheUNFCCC,thelaunchofadedicatedCOP29SpecialVisaservice,theaccreditationofmediarepresentatives,theregistrationofradio-electronicequipment,theallocationofatemporaryradiospectrum,andthereservationoffacilitiesandinfrastructureintheGreenZoneforevents.Additionally,theoperationofvariousportalsforbookingtranslationserviceswasthoroughlyoutlined.
Thebriefinghighlightedthetransport,accommodation,andcateringarrangementsputinplacetoensureapositiveexperienceforthethousandsofinternationaldelegatesexpectedtovisitBakuforthisgloballysignificantconference,withadditionalmeasuresplannedtoenhancetheseservicesfurther.Moreover,itwasemphasizedthatakeyobjectiveoftheCOP29AzerbaijanOperatingCompanythroughoutallphasesoftheintensiveoperationsistominimizeenvironmentalimpactandmaintainthecarbonfootprintatanacceptablelevel.
