A training seminar on confidence and capacity building in the preparation of Biennial Transparency Reports (BTR) was held, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Yalchin Rafiyev delivered a speech at the opening, APA reports.
The deputy minister expressed his condolences for the loss of life as a result of the floods in Brazil and Afghanistan and emphasized that these natural disasters show the severe consequences of climate change.
He said that within the framework of the COP29 year, Azerbaijan, as the host, will continue to conduct exercises and initiatives in this direction together with the UN.
Deputy Minister underscored that as the host country of COP29, Azerbaijan understands the responsibility of this important event. He also said that COP29 promotes cooperation and dialogue at the global level and will serve as a bridge between developing and developed countries on climate issues and reducing their impacts.
Nuri Özbağdatlı, regional coordinator of COP29 of the UN Development Program, emphasized in his speech that climate issues are a common problem that worries the global community.
The regional coordinator said that transparent reports create trust.
