"Yes,IbelievehewillparticipateintheBRICSsummitinKazan.Wearecurrentlypreparingforthisvisittoensureit'sbeneficialforbilateralrelationsbetweenTehranandMoscow,"Jalalisaid.TheambassadoroutlinedplansforPezeshkian'svisit,includingbilateralmeetingswithPutinandotherRussianofficials,engagementswiththeIraniancommunityinRussia,andaspeechatthesummit.
RussiaassumedtheBRICSpresidencyonJanuary1,foraone-yearterm.Themainevent,theBRICSsummit,isscheduledforOctober22-24,inKazan,southwesternRussia.
IranofficiallyjoinedBRICSonJanuary1andhasbeengrowinginimportanceinthegroupalongwithSaudiArabiaandtheUnitedArabEmirates,whoalsojoinedinthesamesession.
JalalialsomentionedthatacomprehensivecooperationagreementbetweenIranandRussiamightbesignedeitherduringtheBRICSsummitorataseparatemeetingbetweenthetwocountries'presidentsoncethedocumentisfinalised.
"We'vediscussedthiswithourRussiancolleagues.Thefirstideaistosignitatthesummit,asit'samajorevent.We'recurrentlyworkingonthis,consideringtwooptions,butnodecisionhasbeenmadeyet,"Jalaliexplained.
PressurehasbeenbuildingonRussiatosigntheagreement,whichsomeinTehransayMoscowhasbeendraggingitsfeetover,followingthedeathofformerPresidentEbrahimRaisiearlierinMayinahelicoptercrash.
